FAQ
What is a tandem
skydive?
A tandem jump is when you
are harnessed to and under direct supervision of a USPA
certified instructor.
Is there an age
limitation?
You must be 18 years of
age or older. There
is no upper age limit at Key West Skydiving as long as
you are healthy.
Is there a weight limit?
240 lbs is the maximum
weight limit.
What does freefall feel
like?
You have to try it.
Its indescribable but it will be the most exhilarating
time of your life.
Can I breathe in freefall?
Yes, although the
excitement and adrenaline might leave you breathless.
How experienced are
your instructors at Key West Skydive?
Our instructors are all
USPA certified and have over 5000 skydives.
What if my parachute doesn't open?
By
FAA regulation, all intentional parachute jumps must be made
with a single harness, dual parachute system with both a main
and a secondary, or reserve, parachute. Basically, if one
doesn't work, you have another one. The reserve parachutes are
inspected and repacked every 120 days by an FAA-certified rigger
whether they have been used or not.
Student main parachutes are packed by a rigger or are packed
under direct supervision of a certified rigger. In addition, all
students must have an AAD which will deploy your reserve if the
parachute is not open by a certain altitude.
What should I wear?
Dress in seasonably comfortable clothing like pants or shorts
and T-shirt. Sports shoes are recommended.
What about the weather?
Skydiving is a weather
sensitive sport. We can only jump if conditions are acceptable,
cloud clearances, no rain, tolerable winds. Be advised that
weather can be different within a few miles distance. We
normally have great weather in the Florida Keys.
If we feel there is a weather problem, we will contact
you.
Can I bring spectators?
Absolutely, bring your
friends and family. We have a spectator area next to our landing
zone where they can watch you skydive.
